After the search-and-rescue operation ended, authorities began investigating the cause of the tragic explosion at the apartment building in the “Beqir Dardha” neighborhood of Elbasan. Two people were killed, several others were injured, and extensive damage was caused.
Experts from the Elbasan Police and Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the scene to collect evidence and document the circumstances of the incident.

Meanwhile, specialists from the Institute of Construction are expected to assess the damage and the building’s safety.
The technical assessment will determine whether the apartment building is structurally sound and whether residents can return to their homes. Elbasan Municipality has also announced that it will take measures to provide accommodation for families affected by the explosion.
Recall that a man and a woman were killed in the explosion. The body of 69-year-old Hamit Ibra was found this morning.
He had been missing since the explosion, and emergency teams continued searching for hours to find him beneath the rubble of the apartment building.
The day before, 82-year-old Hatixhe Berisha was also found dead. She lived one floor above the apartment that caught fire.
