Balluku, the insurmountable ‘wall’ on the road to the EU” / Berisha: She is the nation’s biggest thief!

On Thursday, former prime minister and Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha commented on the European Commission’s report on Albania, focusing on the case of Belinda Balluku and Parliament’s rejection of SPAK’s request to lift her immunity.

Berisha referred to the European Commission’s finding, stressing that it raises concerns about checks and balances between branches of government and equality before the law.

The Democratic Party leader also described Balluku as the main obstacle on Albania’s path to EU membership and levelled accusations against Prime Minister Rama.

“The Commission says that, after a lengthy delay, Parliament voted against SPAK’s request to lift a female MP’s immunity. It is referring to Lubi Balluku. This raises concerns about checks and balances between branches of government and equality before the law. On the road to the EU, towards that future which is Albanians’ most cherished dream, the insurmountable wall is Lubi Balluku, the biggest thief in this nation’s history after Edi Rama. That two-metre-tall oaf stands there before journalists and does not say a word about this international condemnation in the European Commission’s report. Blocking the lifting of immunity and the arrest of ministers has never happened except under Edi Rama. It happened with Saimir Tahiri, and it happened with Lubi Balluku, because he is the main shareholder in both the drugs business and Lubi’s dealings,” Sali Berisha said.
