Ergys Agasi’s conversations with 2 Israeli nationals revealed: Vlora Hyseni is a close friend of mine, she will meet him herself and speak to him about…

Details have emerged from the Special Anti-Corruption Court’s ruling concerning the former director of the State Intelligence Service, Vlora Hyseni, who is accused of helping businessman Ergys Agasi while he was on the run. BalkanWeb has obtained the contents of the ruling by the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), which upheld Hyseni’s house arrest.

The court document also describes Agasi’s telephone communications with two Israeli nationals, Shalev I. and Srulik E.K., in which he refers to his relationship with the former head of Albania’s intelligence service and interventions that, according to the messages, she could make.

In one exchange with Shalev I., Agasi writes: “The head of the intelligence service is a close friend of mine.” In his exchange with the other national, Srulik E.K., Agasi writes: “We are lucky that the Americans themselves caught him here and know how he behaves, and one more thing: the director of the intelligence service will meet him herself and speak to him about this matter, presenting him with evidence that the prosecutor did this to serve other interests.” The GJKKO ruling further states: “The communications facilitated by Agasi with the individuals using the aliases Shalev I. and Srulik E., who are mentioned in connection with matters involving the head of the intelligence service, reasonably indicate the existence of an international network serving the interests of the criminal group. This network increases the concrete risk that Hyseni, if she remained at liberty, would have privileged access to escape routes or means of concealment beyond the effective control of the authorities conducting the proceedings.”

These communications form part of the material presented in the GJKKO ruling, and their contents shed light on Agasi’s contacts and relationships concerning the influence Vlora Hyseni could have wielded while the businessman was on the run. Earlier, telephone communications between Agasi and Vlora Hyseni were revealed in the investigative file of the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK). In those exchanges, the two spoke about enemies who wished them harm and were attacking them, while Hyseni also informed him about possible political developments. As part of these investigations, SPAK ordered Hyseni’s house arrest and removal from office, triggering a storm of public reaction in Albania over the scale of the scandal involving how the head of the State Intelligence Service uses classified information on behalf of a person wanted by the justice authorities.
