A bus was involved in a serious accident on Friday morning in eastern France, near the Swiss border. According to local authorities, the accident caused several casualties.
French Education Minister Edouard Geffray said the bus was believed to be carrying students. The local prefecture said it was an intercity bus, Reuters reported.

Footage broadcast by French television channel BFM TV shows the bus off the road and in a roadside ditch. A group of people can be seen near the vehicle.
BFM TV reported that two people had died, but a civil protection service spokesperson said the information had not yet been confirmed. The local prefecture also said there was no official confirmation of any deaths.
French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said he was on his way to the scene of the accident.
