Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj is expected to undergo another operation on his broken leg following a recommendation from doctors at Fier Memorial Hospital.
According to information available, during an examination today, doctors determined that the fracture in Veliaj’s leg requires another operation.

His lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, has been raising concerns about the mayor’s health for days.
Ndreca previously said that medical examinations to monitor the fracture’s healing had been formally requested nearly two weeks earlier, but had not been carried out.
Veliaj is currently being held in the medical facilities at Fier prison, after being transferred from Durrës prison several days ago.
During this period, he has been moving around with the aid of crutches and taking painkillers to manage the pain.
